Jan Sabach Design was named one of the World’s best design firms in the third edition of WOLDA, the Worldwide Logo Design Annual, selected with other 200 winning logos (180 professionals + 20 students) among of almost 1, 400 excellent entries from around the world. Wolda is the innovative graphic design awards scheme that rewards the best logos and trademarks designed throughout the world and the only award scheme endorsed by more than 100 other international design associations and schools.

Thanks to its originality and design excellence, the “Jedna radost” logotype designed for Perfect Crowd, has satisfied the judging criteria and received a honourable mention on the WOLDA website.”

“Facing world-wide enterprises, design institutes, designers and design students, the Award of “Hiiibrand 2010” is to collect design works of logo, and to reward the excellent logo works and the enterprises, which pay more attention to design their logos. Until the deadline of The International Logo Design Award “Hiiibrand 2010”, we have received 4,136 pieces of logo works from more than 60 countries and regions around the world. It took four months to strictly select the rewarded works, finally, 202 logo works have been chosen in the list, including 164 works from professional group, and 38 ones from student group.”

Graphis was a little secretive about when launching their new product–the Design Journals, so I was thrilled when I discovered (while checking it out at Barnes and Noble) that book covers for my father’s novels were selected for the New York section of the journal. Great.

Death is not Justice

Article 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”
How does that fit with beheading, stoning, hanging, lethally injecting or shooting someone?

In 2009, countries with the highest number of executions were Iran (with at least 388 executions), Iraq (at least 120), Saudi Arabia (at least 69), and the United States (52). In China information regarding the death penalty remains a secret, but estimates show that China executes more people than the rest of the world combined. (source: Amnesty International)

October 10th 2010 is a World Day Against the Death Penalty and Poster For Tomorrow is raising awareness by hosting 100 exhibitions in 100 cities around the world.

I’m honored that my poster “Death Map” was selected as one of the top 10 and will be used in contest’s promotional communication. Please visit the exhibitions and help stop killing in the name of “justice.”

Brand Identity Essentials

My work has been published in the new book from Rockport Publishers–Brand Identity Essentials, 100 Principles for Designing Logos and Building Brands.

This book is the fourth book in the Essential series following Layout Essentials,Typography Essentials, and Packaging Essentials. It outlines and demonstrates basic logo and branding design guidelines and rules through 100 principles including the elements of a successful graphic identity, identity programs and brand identity, and all the various strategies and elements involved.
